Using a Timer to Boost Productivity

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

Using a timer will improve productivity.  I have clients who think that everything will take longer than it really does, because they have never really assessed how long things take. I often recommend the Time Timer

This timer allows you to comprehend time as a window of opportunity.  As time passes the red indicator on the clock face becomes smaller and smaller.  This is a way for you to “see time”. Visual learners and those with ADHD find this timer especially helpful.  It can help to focus on something if you tell yourself it is only for 10 minutes or 30 minutes or whatever time you choose. A quick glance will show you how much of your window remains.  When the timer goes off you can reset and continue or you can reward yourself for a job well done.  No more getting lost in an activity and missing other important activities in you day.  Time Timer is available in several formats:  large, small, watches, computer based and even a app for your iphone.
